All Things Fall

September 15, 2021 2 min read 26 Comments

Welcome to this month’s All Things where I share a collection of finds, whether it be from the web, interactions, or just day-to-day living, that belong to one singular category.

We’re loading up All Things Fall! From spooky movies to bat-filled entryways to cozy hygge fall vibes, I got ya’ covered.  So without further ado, let’s dive into all things fall!

  1. Anyone else here have apples on the brain, as soon as August ends?? ?? Well, If you’re looking for some new recipes to try this season, Brit+Co had a delicious list of sweet appley goodness.

  1. Some delightful inspo for your spooky styled entryway ?
  1. Just when we thought seasonal affective disorder (SAD) was bad enough, did you know that autumn anxiety is a thing? According to Healthline.com autumn anxiety may be linked to external factors like the beginning of a new school year, the looming stress of the holiday season, or possible regret from not having achieved desired goals over the summer. Sigh, here comes sad girl fall.

  1. For ALL of the cozy fall vibes you’ll be wanting to usher in right now, plus a smidgen of hygge, check out @cozy.fall
  1. Since it’s spooky season, why not have a Netflix spooky movie marathon 👻🍿🎬 ?? Check out this list of The 50 Best Horror Movies on Netflix Right Now…oh and don’t forget the snacks!

  1. Fall isn’t fall without Halloween and no Halloween is complete without the perfect spooky cocktail. Make it non-alcoholic if you prefer but either way, check out these Purple Gin and Tonics from Sugar and Charm that are easy to make and colored with natural ingredients.
  1. Pandemic living makes celebrating autumn a little different this year (cue the delta variant memes), so here are some ideas for those of you who love to celebrate the season with your circle but still need to follow social distancing!

Whatever or however you choose to embrace or celebrate the upcoming season, be sure you don’t let it slip by without creating a memory big or small!

If you could dress up as any character or thing for Halloween this year, what would you dress up as?

The fall is my favorite season of all! The vibe is just super cozy.

    • annaelleliz September 27, 2021 at 4:41 pm

      All about the cozy vibes!

  • Priyanka | That Fat Diary September 18, 2021 at 2:42 am

Here we have this beautiful flower blooming in fall it makes the season special. We don’t celebrate Halloween here so it’s not spooky at all.

    • annaelleliz September 27, 2021 at 4:45 pm

That’s so interesting! It would be so hard to not associate Halloween with spookiness but that’s really cool to experience it another way!

  • Sol September 17, 2021 at 10:17 am

Here in the Philippines we don’t have fall season but some are looking forward to the Halloween Season instead.

    • annaelleliz September 17, 2021 at 9:26 pm

Not me forgetting tropical places exist 🤦🏽‍♀️! I’m so used to seeing the changing leaves and snow my brain would be so confused moving into a season and not seeing the accompanying weather change.

Any plans for the Halloween season?

  • Lynndee September 17, 2021 at 10:11 am

Fall is my favorite season and these are some great ideas. I’d be decorating soon! Can’t wait!

    • annaelleliz September 17, 2021 at 9:21 pm

I’m just waiting for it to hit September 22 (first day of fall) so I can go even more overboard!

  • Petro September 16, 2021 at 12:29 pm

I actually have apples on my brain all year long, love anything apples! I’ve been making tons of apple recipes this month and I don’t see myself stopping anytime soon. I’ll have a look at those recipes you recommend. Thanks for sharing this!

    • annaelleliz September 17, 2021 at 9:10 pm

AHHH ME TOO! They’re my go-to for a lot of my baking recipes but during fall they just add an extra element of warm and cozy 🍎

  • Louisa September 16, 2021 at 11:33 am

I have shared this compilation with my in-law. He is such a big fan of horror movies.

    • annaelleliz September 17, 2021 at 9:09 pm

Aww, that’s so sweet! Hope he gets some fall inspiration from it too! I’ve just gotten into horror and now I’m hooked. I actually like the ones that have a blend of horror and mystery!

  • Kelli A September 16, 2021 at 11:23 am

Fall is my absolute favorite time of the year. I love decorating my yard for fall holidays and just love pumpkins and gourds and all the goulish things!

    • annaelleliz September 27, 2021 at 4:47 pm

Yes! It’s the decorations that push fall over the edge to my favorite season! I might even like decorating for fall more than Christmas 😲

  • Ivan Jose September 16, 2021 at 10:44 am

We don’t have fall season in my country but I can feel the spooky Halloween vibe. I checked the horror movies in Netflix and I’ve found some that I like.

    • annaelleliz September 17, 2021 at 9:00 pm

Oh wow! I’ve gotten so used to four seasons where I live that it would be hard to adjust to not having each! What season’s do you have?

Netflix has defeinelty upped their horror movie selection!

  • Rose Ann Sales September 16, 2021 at 3:18 am

I’ll definitely watch some horror movies and some scented candles, of course.

    • annaelleliz September 17, 2021 at 8:51 pm

Spooky season hasn’t started until you do. I just finished Fear Street on Netflix and have gotten my spooks 👻

  • Richelle Escat September 15, 2021 at 11:39 pm

Thanks for the suggestions. I’m so excited for the Halloween.

    • annaelleliz September 17, 2021 at 8:50 pm

Halloween is slowly grabbing the favorite holiday spot 🎃

  • Amber Myers September 15, 2021 at 5:46 pm

I am so ready for fall decor. I have mine out! I will switch it with Halloween soon. I love the spooky decor!

    • annaelleliz September 15, 2021 at 8:12 pm

Spooky decor is a vibe! I still need to put my fall decor up but I’m just waiting till it hits October 1st to go Halloween crazy!

  • Brianne September 15, 2021 at 5:24 pm

Candles, pumpkins, a fireplace. I love fall!

    • annaelleliz September 15, 2021 at 8:06 pm

Just need a fireplace to complete that list ?! There’s something about candles and pumpkins that just make the season feel more complete!

  • Ben September 15, 2021 at 5:21 pm

Outside of wearing flannel at all times, the best thing about fall is the decor. I love what you did with that space.

    • annaelleliz September 15, 2021 at 8:05 pm

Right there with! Fall = flannel season for sure! They really need to make a flannel emoji now that I think about it ?

Wow...It's been a while hasn't it? Let's see, where to begin?
•
Well, this time last year, something felt really at odds with my spirit. I realized I needed a break from  social media— more so a break from Anna Elle Liz.
•
Believe it or not, I don’t particularly like spending a heckuva lot of  time on social media. For me, I've found that I’m more drained rather than replenished my when get my scroll on (hmmmp…  maybe someday I'll write  a blog post on that — Navigating Social Media When You Don't Really Like Social Media).Throw in all the viewing, reading, watching & clicking  - and a recipe for a major timeout was brewing.
•
Nuturing my personal and creative life, my growth made it clear that meeting the demands of Anna Elle Liz was something I could no longer do with the same excitement and vigor I once did.
 •
So, all this to say that Anna Elle Liz will be back (you know I can't miss out on Fall content) but at a slower and less scheduled pace.
•
You must also know that I can't even think about a return without extending a super big thank you to all of the kind followers/supporters who've patiently waited with me,  during my hiatus.
•
Cheers to you! Cheers to re-starting content again! And, cheer to reaching 3-years of Anna Elle Liz with y.o.u.

We all know about the stars of Thanksgiving…the main characters, turkey and ham. But what about the supporting cast, the secondary stars of the show; the side dishes. I mean without the sides, can the main dishes even shine?
·
The stuffing, the creamy mashed potatoes, the corn on the cob, the green bean casserole, the mac ’n’ cheese, … yep, I can take this train to foreverville. For now, I present you with a definitive and completely non-subjective ranking of some of my favorite Thanksgiving side dishes!
·
If you could only eat one dish for Thanksgiving, what would it be?

Name a more perfect fall photo 🍎
·
I love me some pumpkin, but apples are another great fall staple. And there's something about going apple picking with a basket and plaid scarf that feels like I'm fresh out of a New England town.

It’s that time of year when our thoughts turn to Thanksgiving and the day that is set aside to feel thankful for what we have.
·
But how can we turn gratitude into a daily habit instead of a once-a-year holiday obligation?
·
By recognizing the abundance we already have…our family, our relationships, our material things that bring us comfort and our memories, dreams, and hopes.
·
Our lives can be enriched so much if we take the time to be thankful and see the good in all that we have.
