If springtime is the land of the awakening, well wake me up before you go-go because I’m so ready to change things up from winter ☃️️❄️? and brighten up my space with all things spring ???!
Yep, it’s time to flip the script and say buh-bye to heavier colors and textures while humming hello to lighter hues and natural fibers.
So from my untold hours of bingeing HGTV (c’mon, who hasn’t) to endless clicks on apartment & dorm tours (thank you YouTube), I’d like to think of myself as the next Joanna Gaines of apartment décor! One of my favorite things is decorating on a budget while creating beautiful spaces for less. Even if your budget is limited, you can still create or even mimic some fab looks no matter the season.
Some tips for decorating on a budget as well as how to spring-ify your space:
REARRANGE YOUR FURNITURE
While you’re working that spring cleaning list and getting in all the cracks and crevices, why not try rearranging your furniture while you’re at it? Not only can it spark wonderful inspiration that can breathe new life into a familiar space, but it can also actually help with that Feng Shui you’ve been meaning to try!
Simply put: rethink your home. Can you rework the function of a room? Are there ways to improve the flow of space? Orienting your furniture in a new way or swapping it for other pieces from different rooms can make a huge impact — at literally no cost! The best part? Nothing is permanent, so you can always change it back or make it just a seasonal shift.
Pro Tip: If you’d really like a new piece, but your budget says no piece, flea markets, garage sales, or even a family members’ clutter can be your gold mine!
CHANGE THE WALLS
One of the most affordable things you can do to dramatically change the style of the space is to open up a can of paint, pick up a roll of contact or wallpaper, and get creative.
Ideas? Freshen up one wall or a ceiling for immediate impact, refresh an old piece of furniture, or even given your kitchen cabinets and countertops an upgraded look!
Don’t forget that updating small pieces of furniture (nightstands, small tables, a chair) can be enough to shed some spring goodness around a room.
ADD IN GREEN
Faux plants are affordable and (obviously) so easy to maintain — but the real thing can be reasonable too. Instead of going for a large monstera or fiddle-leaf fig plant, try looking into potting a few micro plants which you can customize. Bonus? They tend to be priced a lot lower
SHOP YOUR HOUSE
After you’ve given your space a deep clean — and hey, while you’re at it, a good purge — take a good walk around and see what you actually own.
Maybe you forgot about that box of seasonal buys you stashed away a year or two ago, or you stumbled on some accessories that had long been forgotten.
Whatever the case, use everything to your advantage and give your space a fresh feel!
DO A DIY
Pinterest is my best friend when it comes to DIYing! If you haven’t already guessed, one of my favorite parts of tackling any project is saving money by doing something that would have cost budget-busting dollars, if I had to buy it!
If DIY doesn’t make you giddy, try enlisting the help of a friend or family member who’s a little more crafty to give you a hand. Not only will you save some ka-ching ?, but you’ll also have made some cool memories and have a sentimental piece for your space!
HEAD OUTSIDE
Grabbing some natural beauty from outside is another great way to decorate (remembering environmentally friendly is the way to go)!
For spring, bring in some twigs or a few fresh blooms to spring-ify your space. A flower press (or two heavy books) can also be a cool way to make and preserve your springtime memories for future projects.
Depending on the season, even an arrangement of pine cones, rocks, or pieces of driftwood could work great as well!
SPICE IT UP WITH SCENTS
Nothing knows its spring-like your nose so make sure to change up your candles, diffusers, and wall plugins. Think light and airy whether the undernotes are florals, cool linens, or ocean breezes, welcome scents that let your home say it’s ready for the new season
Pro Tip: Don’t forget your closets and drawers! If drawer liners are out of your budget, dryer sheets or spritzing your fav fragrance on tissue paper and dashing it here and there can add a nice touch to your wardrobe space.

So excited to revamp the spaces in my home, especially after this dreary weather! Loving the simple ideas!
I’m excited for you, lol! Yes, the winter slump is definitely starting to hit so I’m looking forward to changing it up too!
I currently have two plants in my living room. Adding more greenery to my home is an excellent idea. I will get a plant for other areas including my bathroom, which has a large window that the sun loves.
High-five for plant life! My living room is full of plants, lol! I recently added some to my bedroom, bathroom, and kitchen — and it makes the spaces feel more lively!
Love these ideas. We just put up some wallpaper in the entry and it complete transformed and brightened up the space!
*Happy dance* wallpaper is one of my favorites decor go-to’s!
I LOVE this post! It’s inspired me to get going on my purging that I’ve put off for months. Your space and colors in these photos are gorgeous. I love how flexible you are too about your suggestions and that we can just look at this as a season shift and to just embrace a little change and not be stuck on the details.
Ugh! So glad you loved this! I LOVE your comment ?!
Spring always puts me in the mood for cleaning and purging (cause boy do I have a lot of stuff!). It’s so cool to switch up decor with non-committal ways (i.e, wallpaper & re-arranging furniture) so you can always switch it back if you’re not too happy with the results!
