25 Things to Cross off Your 2021 Summer Bucket List

July 21, 2021 2 min read 10 Comments

When it comes to having a blast, ya really can’t do it without a saying we’ve heard all our lives…“Time flies when you’re having fun!”

While the times may be different, we can still find fun in summer!  The spirit of entertaining, new adventures, and freedom to enjoy longer daylight hours, is something enough to get excited about. This is especially true now that most of the nation is easing up on pandemic restrictions.

As the country dips its toes into this transition, we can still do our part to usher in a happy summer by continuing to respect people’s choices about whether or not folks still want to mask up or have appropriate distancing while out in public. We never know what other people’s situation is (health, emotional, or otherwise) so let’s all try and be mindful as we all try and enjoy this long-awaited summer.

With that in mind, enjoy the season of sunshine, let your hair down, and create a list of amusing things to do and enjoy!

Here’s a few from my own list to get you started. See how many you can check off or add!

  1. Visit a local fair
  2. Make fresh lemon water or lemonade
  3. Go on a hike or a nature walk
  4. Waterguns, bubble blowers, and kites… get in touch with your inner child
  5. Eat shaved ice, go out for ice-cream, or go out for fro-yo
  6. Make a summer music playlist
  7. Have yourself a picnic or eat lunch outside
  8. Take a mid-day nap
  9. Go on a road trip even if it’s just a town over by car or train, or a few blocks away by walking a new route
  10. Watch the sunrise
  11. Gaze at the stars (binoculars optional)
  12. Unplug from technology
  13. Tie-dye clothing
  14. Go to an outdoor concert or festival
  15. Buy a small plant
  16. Visit a museum
  17. Have a bonfire
  18. Pick a summer read book in a new genre
  19. Make a slip ‘n’ slide (add bubbles for some extra fun)
  20. Have a fruit salad or smoothie
  21. Cheer on your favorite team during the Summer Olympics…pom poms and all (Go Team USA)
  22. Go bike riding
  23. Visit a nearby zoo or aquarium
  24. Go wine tasting on a sunny afternoon. No winery? No problem!  Chill a few inexpensive bottles and lightly sip away
  25. Watch a firework show

Want some more summer fun? Check out some of my other summer-related articles!

What are you looking forward to this summer?

I’ve done a few things on this list. I went hiking, made a Summer playlist, and went to a bonfire.

Ooh nice! I’m determined to find a bonfire and get my hike on this summer…probably gonna have to look out of NYC though, lol!

We finally wrote down all the things we wanted to do on our Bucket List. I will add watching the Olympics! I’m super excited for gymnastics.

The opening ceremony is this Friday and I’m so excited. I can’t wait to see gymnastics too, and swimming!

You have a great list here. We have done a lot of these. We probably will not unplug from technology, ha. I’ll be honest with that one.

    • annaelleliz July 22, 2021 at 4:13 pm

Lol, it is a hard one! I always say start small and then build up if you want ?

  • Mimi July 21, 2021 at 3:02 pm

Wow...It's been a while hasn't it? Let's see, where to begin?
•
Well, this time last year, something felt really at odds with my spirit. I realized I needed a break from  social media— more so a break from Anna Elle Liz.
•
Believe it or not, I don’t particularly like spending a heckuva lot of  time on social media. For me, I've found that I’m more drained rather than replenished my when get my scroll on (hmmmp…  maybe someday I'll write  a blog post on that — Navigating Social Media When You Don't Really Like Social Media).Throw in all the viewing, reading, watching & clicking  - and a recipe for a major timeout was brewing.
•
Nuturing my personal and creative life, my growth made it clear that meeting the demands of Anna Elle Liz was something I could no longer do with the same excitement and vigor I once did.
 •
So, all this to say that Anna Elle Liz will be back (you know I can't miss out on Fall content) but at a slower and less scheduled pace.
•
You must also know that I can't even think about a return without extending a super big thank you to all of the kind followers/supporters who've patiently waited with me,  during my hiatus.
•
Cheers to you! Cheers to re-starting content again! And, cheer to reaching 3-years of Anna Elle Liz with y.o.u.

We all know about the stars of Thanksgiving…the main characters, turkey and ham. But what about the supporting cast, the secondary stars of the show; the side dishes. I mean without the sides, can the main dishes even shine?
·
The stuffing, the creamy mashed potatoes, the corn on the cob, the green bean casserole, the mac ’n’ cheese, … yep, I can take this train to foreverville. For now, I present you with a definitive and completely non-subjective ranking of some of my favorite Thanksgiving side dishes!
·
If you could only eat one dish for Thanksgiving, what would it be?

Name a more perfect fall photo 🍎
·
I love me some pumpkin, but apples are another great fall staple. And there's something about going apple picking with a basket and plaid scarf that feels like I'm fresh out of a New England town.

It’s that time of year when our thoughts turn to Thanksgiving and the day that is set aside to feel thankful for what we have.
·
But how can we turn gratitude into a daily habit instead of a once-a-year holiday obligation?
·
By recognizing the abundance we already have…our family, our relationships, our material things that bring us comfort and our memories, dreams, and hopes.
·
Our lives can be enriched so much if we take the time to be thankful and see the good in all that we have.
