If I were …

January 15, 2020 2 min read 24 Comments

If you’ve gleaned some of the things I like, then you know I’m a fan of random quizzes and tags. From Enneagram Tests to 73 Vogue Questions anything that lets you find out more about yourself as well as other people are a must for me, so I was super pumped to find the ‘If I were…’ tag while scrolling through Tumblr (peep my page here)!

It’s a great way to connect with random thoughts we all have while also being a super creative way to explore you. All you have to do is finish the sentence with an answer and add some pictures.

Without further ado, let’s get to it!

Lupine flower

if I were a flower… Lupine

Woman spreading her arms

if I were an emotion… Joy

Green pine trees near teal water at daytime

if I were a place… the Mountains by a lake

Brown leafed trees

if I were a season… Fall/Autumn

Rippling body of water

if I were an element… water

Green plants over the valley and mountains under blue sky

if I were a sound… the Countryside (winds howling, birds and crickets chirping, owls hooting, etc.)

Selective focus photography of orange and brown falling maple leaves

if I were weather… Sunny cool crisp day (preferably in fall ?)

Pink, orange, and blue, clouds at sunset

if I were a time of day… Sunset

White and brown seashells

if I were a color… Pastel Teal

Noddle dish on white ceramic bowl

if I were a food… Chinese Food

Strawberries on white bowl

if I were a fruit… Strawberries

White ceramic mug filled with black coffee

if I were a virtue… Fortitude

Flowers and candles next to bed

if I were a scent… Ocean breeze & fresh linen

Assorted-title book in bookcase

If I were a superpower… Innate capability (the ability to know or understand something without the need of studying or previous experience)

Et voila! I hope you enjoyed the tag as much as I did! I’m super curious to see some of your answers so I’m tagging a couple of other bloggers to try it out:

What were some of your answers?

It’s a fun way to describe your personality.

    • annaelleliz January 22, 2020 at 10:33 am

So true! It’s definitely less pressure than an about me page.

  • Tiffany January 16, 2020 at 9:33 pm

This is such a fun post, I love it!! All the pictures and the different concepts of self really create a unique perspective 🙂 I think the idea of identifying with these various aspects tells a lot about personality and offers insight into our very being. Very cool!

    • annaelleliz January 16, 2020 at 10:09 pm

I so agree! It seems super simple but taking a minute to think about what ‘random’ things align with certain aspects of yourself is actually really introspective.

This was an interesting and super creative tag! I’m not sure what flower I’d be (I feel like that’s where my lack of flower knowledge would shine through haha) OH we’re the same season! Fall/Autumn is my favorite – not too hot or too cold but just right, especially for running! If I were a fruit I wouldn’t know what I’d be haha I love them all, strawberries are one of my favorites, and raspberries are amazing so I’d chose the option of being a fruit basket haha!

This was super fun to read through!

Fall/Autumn is by far the best season! It’s the perfect temperature weather-wise and I can rock out all the oversized sweaters!

Haha such a smart idea to choose a fruit basket!

  • Christa January 16, 2020 at 7:37 pm

This is so fun! I have to think about my answers to these questions. Some of them are hard!

    • annaelleliz January 22, 2020 at 10:31 am

I know right! It took me some time to even answer some of the “easy” ones!

  • Jupiter Hadley January 16, 2020 at 5:21 pm

What a fun idea! This is very cute.

    • annaelleliz January 16, 2020 at 6:30 pm

It was super fun to do!

  • Louise January 16, 2020 at 4:39 pm

What a great tag! I’d actually say the same as you for quite a few of these to be honest.

    If I were a flower I’d be a lily
If I were an emotion I’d be happiness
If I were a place I’d be a waterfall in the mountains
If I were a season I’d be autumn
If I were an element I’d be water
If I were a sound I’d be laughter
If I were weather I’d be breeze
If I were a time of day I’d be sunset
If I were a colour I’d be grey
If I were a food I’d be lasagne
    If I were a fruit I’d be a strawberry
If I were a virtue I’d be temperance
If I were a scent I’d be fresh linen
If I were a superpower I’d be invisibility

    Louise x

    • annaelleliz January 16, 2020 at 6:40 pm

HAHA that’s too cool! That fresh linen scent is a must! Oh, laughter is such a wonderful sound!

  • Kayleigh Zara January 16, 2020 at 3:44 pm

This is such a cool idea for a post, if I was food I would also want to be Chinese as it is just so delicious. I really like the fact you picked teal too, it’s such a pretty underrated colour x

    • annaelleliz January 16, 2020 at 6:22 pm

I’m waaay too obsessed with Chinese food, I could eat it every day if I had the choice!

      Yes! Teal is too underrated!

  • Mai January 16, 2020 at 3:44 pm

What a fun tag! I love reading these and getting to know the person better.

    • annaelleliz January 16, 2020 at 6:23 pm

Me too! It’s like you’re getting a little glimpse of a person.

  • Lia January 16, 2020 at 1:48 pm

This is great. If I were an element I’d be air lol just like my star sign. But I wonder why you chose water? That’s interesting. This is post is inspiring me. Thank you for sharing.

    • annaelleliz January 16, 2020 at 6:19 pm

I’ve always been drawn to water and find it super relaxing and calming, and my mom has always said I have that effect on people so I think that could be it. Plus, I totally forgot my star sign’s element is water so that could have for sure influenced that.

  • Brittany limberakis January 16, 2020 at 12:24 pm

Wow I love this idea! Now I’m gonna spend all day thinking of mine!

    • annaelleliz January 16, 2020 at 6:38 pm

It literally took me a week to figure out my answers!

  • Amber January 16, 2020 at 7:48 am

This is fun. My scent would be fresh linen too. Thats for certain.

    • annaelleliz January 16, 2020 at 6:35 pm

Can never go wrong with fresh linen as a scent! It’s so clean and relaxing!

  • Kileen January 15, 2020 at 11:26 pm

This is so cute and so fun! I wonder what mine would be!?

    Kileen
    cute & little

    • annaelleliz January 16, 2020 at 6:35 pm

This was super fun to do! Especially trying to come up with answer you thought were easy and a given!

•
Well, this time last year, something felt really at odds with my spirit. I realized I needed a break from  social media— more so a break from Anna Elle Liz.
•
Believe it or not, I don’t particularly like spending a heckuva lot of  time on social media. For me, I've found that I’m more drained rather than replenished my when get my scroll on (hmmmp…  maybe someday I'll write  a blog post on that — Navigating Social Media When You Don't Really Like Social Media).Throw in all the viewing, reading, watching & clicking  - and a recipe for a major timeout was brewing.
•
Nuturing my personal and creative life, my growth made it clear that meeting the demands of Anna Elle Liz was something I could no longer do with the same excitement and vigor I once did.
 •
So, all this to say that Anna Elle Liz will be back (you know I can't miss out on Fall content) but at a slower and less scheduled pace.
•
You must also know that I can't even think about a return without extending a super big thank you to all of the kind followers/supporters who've patiently waited with me,  during my hiatus.
•
Cheers to you! Cheers to re-starting content again! And, cheer to reaching 3-years of Anna Elle Liz with y.o.u.

We all know about the stars of Thanksgiving…the main characters, turkey and ham. But what about the supporting cast, the secondary stars of the show; the side dishes. I mean without the sides, can the main dishes even shine?
·
The stuffing, the creamy mashed potatoes, the corn on the cob, the green bean casserole, the mac ’n’ cheese, … yep, I can take this train to foreverville. For now, I present you with a definitive and completely non-subjective ranking of some of my favorite Thanksgiving side dishes!
·
If you could only eat one dish for Thanksgiving, what would it be?

Name a more perfect fall photo 🍎
·
I love me some pumpkin, but apples are another great fall staple. And there's something about going apple picking with a basket and plaid scarf that feels like I'm fresh out of a New England town.

It’s that time of year when our thoughts turn to Thanksgiving and the day that is set aside to feel thankful for what we have.
·
But how can we turn gratitude into a daily habit instead of a once-a-year holiday obligation?
·
By recognizing the abundance we already have…our family, our relationships, our material things that bring us comfort and our memories, dreams, and hopes.
·
Our lives can be enriched so much if we take the time to be thankful and see the good in all that we have.
