What’s my Type? Enneagram Personality Test

November 6, 2019 3 min read 4 Comments

I’ll let you in on a secret… my 24th birthday is tomorrow and as I reflect and think about my impending quarter-life crisis, my goal is to do everything in my power to figure out what truly makes me happy and the steps I can take to have it.

Because who wouldn’t want to have this level of happiness?

Where to start? Idk, but I’m hoping an Enneagram test is an even greater clue in the right direction.

If you haven’t heard of it, basically it’s a personality assessment that’s supposed to be FREAKISHLY accurate. Once you key in a few answers, you’re cast as one of 9 Types – each having a unique set of personality traits with varying strengths and weaknesses.

Enneagram Types

Not only is it super insightful for personal growth, but I personally found that it helped me look at self-care, in addition to work, in a totally different light.

Now I’m not saying it’s a cure-all. Instead, it’s a nice roadmap that could just be the breath of motivation you need to get started on enhancing your best self.

So if you’re ready to find out what you think you know and what you may not know about you here’s the Enneagram Test.

MY RESULTS

Dun dun dun dun. Well, after 10 – grueling sweat-dripping minutes, the verdict is in; I’m a Type 3, also known as “The Achiever”.

According to Truity, Type 3’s are goal-driven, equipped with the Type A mentality, a relentless drive for self-improvement, and highly adaptable. Moreover, defining characteristics can be seen as being extremely busy and on the go, having jam-packed schedules and meetings, and making good first impressions.

Guilty as charged ?

STRENGTHS

To be honest, when I first looked at the list of Enneagram types, I knew right away I’d either be labeled as a Type 3 “The Achiever” or a Type 4, “The Individualist”.

Like a true Three, I think I’m okay with that finding because I’m at my best when I’m, making goals, working hard, giving 110%. I will admit, sometimes I turn the pressure on myself up a tad too high but like a trooper, I’m willing to work on my thermostat.

As described by the Truity, Threes succeed and inspire others to invest in their own self-development — which is something I loved doing in college and what I hope to do with this blog.

WEAKNESSES

Here comes the fun part (note the sarcasm). On the unhealthy side, Threes can turn into workaholics so intensely focused on goals, work, and success, that families, friends, and other commitments can take a back seat.

GROWING AND LEARNING

Now, I wouldn’t be bettering myself if I didn’t take a step back and look critically at all the info and see if there was anything I could glean that could spark personal growth.  Because my Type is prone to feelings of inadequacy, being overly competitive, overworked, and impatient (really ?), working on slowing down the pace and living with gratitude is super important.

Some other tips:

  • Understand that failure is okay, normal even, and a great opportunity to grow
  • Meditate and practice mindfulness – appreciate your surroundings
  • Practice self-compassion and self-forgiveness when you feel you may have fallen short of your expectation for yourself
  • Shift your mindset from “achieving” to “trying”

WHAT’S THE POINT

Everybody should have moments of self-reflection in their life so if you’re willing to, use the Enneagram Assessment and take a step back to exemplify your strengths, work on your weaknesses, or cultivate quality relationships

Take the Enneagram Assessment here and let me know what your results are!

What Type do you think you are? Were you right?

Yes! It was so cool to see how accurately a test could describe your personality.
